A late January trip full of it all- wind, snow, and sunshine! This cabin is located near Teton Pass Ski Resort out of Choteau, MT and could be used for amazing winter adventures. The cabin can sleep up to 6 people (pets outside only). I visited late January, with a normal snow level, but it had been a very windy winter. I would recommend this cabin for larger skiing objectives after January, but great snowshoeing/xc-skiing all winter. This cabin brought solitude in addition to easy access to the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area- which is full of dramatic landscapes! Read below for trip tips and terrain details.
Terrain Descriptions:
The two best directions for access, North and West are highlighted on the map attached. Due to the high amount of winds the area had, lots of cool terrain was very wind scoured and unskiiable. The primary wind comes from the SouthWest.
There is a lot of burn around the cabin making for beautiful walking and easy cruising along the valley to the North up Teton River. This also doesn’t provide much protection for the snow from the winds.
Trip Tips:
Getting to the cabin is 3 miles on a road, downhill most of the way in. The road was very wind blown on our way in, so I would not reccommend a snowmobile.
The wood stove is amazing to cook with and huddle around at night to stay warm.
