Herman Gulch Trailhead, off of I-70, offers access to some beautiful mountain terrain. We backcountry skied in mid-June (heavy snowfall year), to ski The Citadel Couloir. Following the Herman Gulch Trail, it is a 4 mile skin to the base of the couloir, following the creek. Then a boot pack up to ski it down! We left the trailhead at about 5:15am, and summited at 9:45. The snow was still a little firm, but made for an exciting ride down.
